If you want to find out more about what being a councillor means, please come along to one of our information events on:
Tuesday 7th March 2023 between 7.00pm and 8.00pm at the Library, Tinkers Green, Jacksons Lane.
Or
Tuesday 14th March 2023 between 3.00-4.00pm at the Library, Tinkers Green, Jacksons Lane.
This will be an informal event, just a chat to find out about the council, with no obligation.
Some of what we do:
- Manage Tinkers Green and The Causeway recreation area
- Maintain bus shelters and some public footpaths
- Village grass cutting
- Contribute to the management of and financial support to Burgh Library
- Christmas Lighting
- Community Events – Picnic in the Park, Community Litter Picks
- Comment on planning applications
- Mange the Public Convenience / Market Place (from April 2023)
Eligibility to be a Local Councillor:
- Be over 18 .
- Be registered on the current electoral register for the parish.
- During the whole of previous 12 months occupied as a tenant or owner of land other premises in the parish.
- Have had your principal or only place of work for the previous 12 months in the parish.
- Have resided either in the parish or within 3 miles during the previous 12 months.
Being a Councillor is none paid role, however, councillors can be paid an allowance of up to £75.00 per quarter.
